Seduction of Success

Announcing. . .
My congregation is holding its annual Living your Faith seminar February 10 and 12 on the topic of "The Seduction of Success: What is a Good Life?" I'm excited about the topic because I think ambition, success, and vocation are seldom seriously addressed in the church. We say a lot of good words about helping others but sometimes don't seriously deal with the messiness of the decision-making that goes into modern life. If you are in the Cities, check it out on our website and join us.

Dorothy Bass and Mark Schwehn have a great review on the history of this topic in the article  "Measure of Success." Is a 'significant" life the same thing as a good one?  For us parent/ career people, its a constant question.

Now I have to return to my other vocational choices today, which include whether to be "a flower, or a fish, or a crocodile." (I'm home with the 3-year-old)
